Red Bellied Woodpecker
Aug 1
It is very difficult not to call this a red headed woodpecker! The red coloring is so vibrant and pretty. However, they do no get their brilliant coloring until maturity. Interestingly enough juveniles have grey heads and bellies, I imagine to help camouflage them from predators!.
